<p>The roaster comprises a flat, circular lid which covers and is removably secured on top of a flat-bottomed, cylindrical-walled pan, partic. of the frying pan type. The lid has a central bearing sleeve for a vertical rotary shaft which extends from the base of the pan to pass through the lid. At least one radial rake is fixed near the lower end of the shaft to sweep the top surface of the base of the pan. At least one radial panel is suspended from horizontal pivots fixed under the lid. The lower edge of the panel is at least as low as the top edge of the rake. The shaft extends above the lid to be coupled to means for providing a rotary drive. This can be a small electric motor with speed reducer or simply a manual crank handle. The roaster is for use on stoves, hot plates, open fires etc.. Since the source of heat is in direct contact with one side of the base and beans in contact with the other side, roasting is rapid.</p> |
