<p>The filter, according to admitted scientific criteria (very long smoke channel, change in the speed and direction of smoke), allows an optimum detoxication of smoke. The filter is formed of a spiralled core or is constituted by slats (1) and a filter envelope (3). Some cuttings (9) form with the filter envelope a very long smoke channel reaching for instance a length of 600 mm. with a core length of 50 mm. In the usual filter cartridges the smoke channel is no longer than 55 mm. With the spiralled core (1) the smoke direction changes continuously and with the slat core the smoke direction will be alternatively changed by 180 and 340 . In both cases, smoke will be thoroughly stirred up so that the tar and the nicotine agglomerate in large particles which also retain some particles of poisonous gases such as carbon monoxide. The nicotine particles which retain gas molecules are confined near the edges of the smoke channel and are captured and rapidly eliminated. With the slat core, some small smoke passages within the individual slat cause a smoke acceleration by which the action is still reinforced. At the end of the channel, the residues of harmful substances may still be lessened by means of a nozzle (5) and some small inlet for fresh air (7). The filter may be shaped to serve as a cartridge for smoking implements or to form a cigarette filter. </p> |
