The gravitational separator includes a tank(10) having an inlet for the mixt. and outlets for the sept. liquids. A reaction member is freely supportable for vertical floatation the arrangement being such that the lighter liquid will separate out entirely under this reaction member and cause it to float upwards. The reaction member includes a sealed bottom part to form in effect a float chamber with the seal being extensible to accommodate the movement of liquid with the tank. Pref. the reaction member and the seal(302) depends vertically from the lower part of the dome(300).
