Continuous extrusion apparatus in which the radial surfaces of two rotors are used to grip and advance the workpiece. An annular groove(16) extending around the surface of one rotor(12) serves to retain the rod(17) and guide it towards the die(22). The face to face relationship of the rotors(11,12) allows very high extrusion pressures to be used combined with effective sealing of the annular groove.
