PURPOSE:To obtain a thin film type magnetic recording medium which has stable frequency characteristics of a reproduction output in a wide frequency range, by improving initial magnetization characteristics, by forming a magnetic thin film of amorphous structure. CONSTITUTION:In a vacuum container which has a >=500mm. mean free distance, a ferromagnetic material made of iron, cobalt, nickel, or their alloy is heated to evaporate, and some of vapor particles re ionized to obtain atomic ion particles, which are accelerated in an electric field to give them >=200eV kinetic energy. Then, they are made incident to a nonmagnetic base material surface at 45-90 deg. to the normal line of the base material surface together with neutral vapor particles of the ferromagnetic material which are not ionized and has 0.1-0.5eV kinetic energy, thus vapor-depositing a magnetic layer. |
