PURPOSE:To ensure the detection for the presence or absence of a recording fault due to the shortage of ink, etc., by providing a detecting means consisting of at least a pair of a light emitting element and a photodetector at the positions opposed to each other centering on the position of a ball pen and around the tip of the ball pen. CONSTITUTION:The photodiodes PS1-PS4 and PS1'-PS4' are provided at the positions opposed to each other centering on the position of a ball pen and around the tip 1' of the ball pen. The horizontal detection is given to the recording 20 carried onto the recording paper 5 by the ball pen by comparing the outputs of a position P1 of the diode PS3 and a position P2 of the diode PS3'. At the same time, the diodes PS1 and PS1', PS2 and PS2', and PS4 and PS4' are positioned so as to be coincident with the segment recording of a vertical direction, a direction of -45 deg. and a direction of +45 deg. respectively. Thus the detection is enabled in each direction. |
