PURPOSE:To economize energy, by driving an electric motor when a transmission is in the low or reverse position. CONSTITUTION:When a signal S1 or S2 is applied to a controller 17 by putting the gearshift of a transmission 18 into the low position P1 or reverse position R, an actuation signal S3 is sent out to electrically connect an electric motor 2 to a battery 16 to drive the motor. As a result, an oil pump 3 is driven to supply pressurized oil. In addition, a by-pass valve 7 is shifted because of the signal S3 to disconnect the first and second chambers 10, 11 of a power cylinder 4 from each other to supply the pressurized oil from the oil pump 3 to the power cylinder so that a power steering gear 1 can be operated. |
