PURPOSE:To provide desired texture easily and uniformly over the entire area of a long steel strip, by converting one end of an ultra-quickly cooled high silicon steel strip to the desired texture, and moving the heated part continuously in a longitudinal direction while subjecting the strip to zone heating with said end as a starting point. CONSTITUTION:A silicon steel plate having the texture (110)<001> as a seed is brought into contact with one end of an ultra-quickly cooled high silicon steel strip 2 and is heated in an inert atmosphere to convert the contact part to the texture essentially the same as the texture of the above-mentioned seed silicon steel plate, whereafter the strip 2 is beforehand coiled on a supply roll 3 in a bell-bar 1. While the strip 2 is coiled and moved to a takeup reel 4 at a specified speed, a light beam 5 is irradiated through glass 6 to the part converted to the desired texture as a seed and with said part as a starting point, the strip is subjected to zone heating. The zone heated part is moved continuously in the longitudinal direction of the strip 2. |
