PURPOSE:To permit exact absorption of a thermal transfer ink by composing a coating agent for application to form a thermal transfer ink-receiving layer on a base of transparent plastic sheet material, of styrene-acrylic resin, polyethtylene wax and hydrophobic silica as essential components. CONSTITUTION:Of the essential components of a coating agent, a copolymer of styrene or a styrene derivative and acrylic acid or an acrylic acid derivative or its ester is used as a styrene-acrylic acid resin. In addition, as a polyethylene wax, polyethylene with a low molecular weight of 800-1,000, is used to obtain oxidized polyethylene wax incorporating a polar group. As hydrophobic silica, such one is used as is prepared by treating several hundreds to several thousands of the silanol group based on one piece of primary particle of hydrophobic SiO2 with trimethylchlolsilane, and is converted to have a hydrophobic property. The formulation ratio of the above-mentioned three components is such as 0.1-150 weight parts of polyethylene wax and 0.5-800 weight parts of hydrophobic silica to 100 weight parts of styrene-acrylic acid resin. These components are melted or dispersed properly with a dispersion medium into a solution form. |
