PURPOSE:A specifically formulated acrylic polymer compositon is melted by heating and extruded out of the spinning orifices with a specific shear rate to effect inexpensive spinning of acylic polymer fiber with excellent properties, because of its freeness of macroscopic and microscopic voids. CONSTITUTION:An acrylic polymer composition composed of (A) 100pts.wt. of an acrylic polymer containing more than 40wt% of acrylonitrile, (B) 5- 40pts.wt. of water and (C) 0.1-30pts.wt. of a hydrophilic polymer such as polyethylene glycol is melted by heating, preferably at 150-190 deg.C and extruded through orifices at a shear rate of 500-100,000sec<-1> to effect melt spinning.
