The composition according to the invention comprises a primary component, optionally together with a secondary component. Both components contain a ketonic or aromatic solvent such as toluene, acetone, or a combination thereof; pitch residue from dimethyl terephthalate production; a softener (e.g. dibutyl phthalate, dioctyl adipate or an aliphatic light oil); and a copolymer such as vinyl chloride/vinyl acetate. The composition may also include one or more of butadiene-styrene rubber, a resin component (coumarone-indene resin), a relaxation admixture (acrylic acid butyl ester, ethylenylstyrene acrylate), a regenerating admixture (polystyrene, acrylonitrile/butadiene/styrene terpolymer), and a pigment such as iron trioxide, zinc oxide, titanium dioxide or chromic oxide. The composition may be used as a coating, adhesive or jointing material. |
