<p>The top end of the flux supply cylinder has dia. (D) and is maintained at distance (l) from the underside of the plates being welded, where D/l = 2-15. One pref. flux feeder consists of a funnel filled with flux and contg. a cylinder in which is a rotary screw feeder driving the flux upwards against the plates being welded. Gas pressure may also be used to drive the flux upwards. The flux pref. contains iron- and/or iron alloy- powder and may also be fed on top of the plates to form an upper welded seam, esp. where the upper seam is made by one or more electrodes travelling ahead of the electrode underneath the plates.</p> |
