PURPOSE:To properly diffuse and retain zinc powder using a high viscosity gelling agent and obtain a gel cathode that does not contain foams internally by mixing the gelling agent, solid powder caustic alkali, and zinc powder and adding water to this mixture. CONSTITUTION:A gel cathode is manufactured by mixing solid caustic alkaline powder, zinc powder, and the gelling agent powder of 4-8% for the weight in case of an alkaline aqueous solution and injecting water in this mixture. For example, a prismatic mold is inserted in a container 1 so as to leave a space section behind that forms a cathode 3 between it and the inner wall of the container 1 and the space section is filled with the said powder mixture. Then, an air battery is created by extracting the prismatic mold, inserting a block-type activated charcoal anode 4 to which water-resistant treatment is applied, filling it with a gel electrolyte 5, injecting a powder cathode, fully impregnating it with water, and filling it with a gel electrolyte 5' so as to fully cover the gel cathode 3. |
