PURPOSE:To improve the capability of feeding and droplet transfer of a solid wire and to stabilize the arc by forming a layer of high oxygen concentration in the surface layer of a solid wire for gas shielding arc welding, and at the same time, generating numberless minute cracks. CONSTITUTION:The surface layer part of a solid wire for gas shielded arc welding is annealed to make the oxygen content in the extent to 2.5% of the diameter becomes >=1,100ppm. By drawing this solid wire, numberless minute cracks are generated in the surface layer part in which the oxygen concentration is high. The retaining capacity of lubricating oil is improved by these cracks and feeding can be made smoothly in a conduit tube. At the same time, the capability of droplet transfer is also improved by the presence of oxygen. Arc becomes stable, and welding work can be executed in a stable state. |
