PURPOSE:To prevent a metallic powder molding consisting of metallic powder and binder from shrinking during sintering in the stage of forming a sintered metallic layer on the surface of a metallic base material by using said metallic powder molding by adding a heat-resistant reinforcing material to the metallic powder molding. CONSTITUTION:The metallic powder molding formed by adding the binder consisting essentially of an org. polymer consisting of a homopolymer of alkyl ester of (meth)acrylic acid or a copolymer of such ester, a functional monomer and vinyl ester monomer at 1-15wt% ratio to wear resistant Fe alloy powder contg. 1 kind of Mo, B, P, etc. is adhered to the surface of the metallic base material in the stage of forming the wear-resistant sintered metallic layer on the surface of the metallic base material. The heat-resistant auxiliary material which is metallic foil or porous metallic sheet-shaped material having the plastic deformability at the melting temp. near the sintering temp. of the above-mentioned metallic powder molding or above is provided at the same time on the surface or to the inside of the metallic powder molding and is sintered in a nonoxidative atmosphere. The sintered metallic layer is formed on the surface of the metallic base material without shrinkage.
