PURPOSE:To manufacture a vibration damping steel having high damping capacity, superior formability and weldability by properly combining the composition of a steel sheet with conditions during hot rolling, coiling and annealing so as to percipitate graphite. CONSTITUTION:The composition of a steel is composed of, by weight, 0.04- 0.25% C, 0.8-2.5% Si, 0.1-0.4% Mn, <0.1% Al and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities. One or more among Ni, Cu and Co may be added by <3%. The steel is hot rolled, coiled at 650-200 deg.C, and annealed by holding at 600- 730 deg.C for >=5hr to precipitate graphite. Cold rolling at 40-80% draft and reannealing at 600-730 deg.C are then carried out as required. |
