<p>PURPOSE:To increase the durability of the titled catalyst and the maintenance of catalytic active performance by forming a catalyst depositing layer on the surface of base material for the monolithic catalyst so that the layer thickness is increased toward the other end from one end thereof and depositing the catalytic components on the deposited layer. CONSTITUTION:After sticking a fluid body contg. the components of catalyst depositing layer on the base material for a monolithic catalyst, the base material is held so that one end thereof directed upward and the other end is directed downward and thereafter dried and calcined to form the catalytic deposited layer wherein the layer thickness is increased toward the other end from one end of the base material. Then, after immersing the base material into an aq. soln. contg. the catalytic components to deposit the catalytic components on the deposited layer, it is dried and calcined to mold the monolithic catalyst. As the components of the above-mentioned catalyst depositing layer, alumina is generally used and as the layer thickness, one end is regulated to 0-150mum and the other end to about 50-250mum. As the catalytic components, platinum, palladium and iridium, etc., can be used.</p> |
