PURPOSE:To shorten the time necessary for transferring data between a host system and a printer and to improve the function of the printer by storing conversion information converting reception information in a storage means and converting the reception information according to the stored conversion information. CONSTITUTION:The conversion information converting the reception information is stored in the conversion information storage means A of the printer, and the reception information is converted by a conversion control means B connected to a host system in accordance with the conversion information. The conversion information stored in the information storage means A is set to the information relating to a sequence converting a single code into a composite one or information relating to an ESC code sequence. Then the data transfer time between the host system and the printer is shortened, and the function of the printer is improved.
