PURPOSE:To make the back tension of a tape nearly constant by rotating a tension roller in response to the extraction of the tape and transmitting this rotation to a feed roller via a timing pulley and a belt. CONSTITUTION:When the rotor of an automatic tape winder is rotated and a tape 13 is extracted, a tension roller 14 is rotated by the extracted length, this rotation is transmitted to a gear 16 via a gear 15 and is further transmitted to a feed roller 18 via a timing pulley 20, a timing belt 22, and a timing pulley 21. Since the roller 18 has the same diameter as that of the drum section of the tension roller 14 and is in contact with a tape pad 12 by pressure, the feed equivalent to the extracted length is applied to the tape 13, the back tension applied to the tape fed to the roller 14 is made zero, thereby the back tension applied to the tape during taping is determined by the brake force only. Accordingly, the back tension is not changed in response to a change of the pad winding diameter.
