PURPOSE:To make a small range of setting car speed alterable in a highly accurate manner, by varying the time ranging from the point that output of an acceleration or deceleration command has stopped to determination of the setting car speed, according to a degree of acceleration or deceleration to be carried out at the time of altering the setting car speed. CONSTITUTION:A device, bearing the above caption, controls an actuator 3 controlling a fuel supply to an engine with a controlling device so as to cause an actual car speed to be detected by a car speed detecting device 1 to be maintained to the setting car speed. In this case, while an alteration command indicating an alteration of the setting speed is outputted out of an alteration commanding device 7, there is provided with a car speed alteration control part 5a controlling the actuator 3 so as to vary the car speed in succession. Also, there is provided with a delay time calculating part 5b which calculates a delay time T corresponding to a difference between a car speed V0 at the time of generation of the alteration command and a car speed V1 at the time of command stoppage, whereby after stopping the alteration command, a car speed V2 after the elapse of the delay time T is set as the setting car speed Vs at a car speed setting part 5c.
