PURPOSE:To simplify the circuit constitution and to improve the processing speed while the resolution of an image is not almost deteriorated by lowering the resolution of a photoelectric converter than that of a thermal head to correct the signal outputted from the photoelectric converter to be adapted to the resolution of the thermal head at a resolution converting section. CONSTITUTION:The resolution of the photoelectric converter 25 is lowered in comparison with that of the thermal head 51 and the color signal outputted from the photoelectric converter 25 is corrected so as to be adapted to the resolution of the thermal head 51 at a resolution converting section 106. The color signal outputted from the photoelectric converter 25 is converted into the color signal with the resolution required for driving the thermal head 51. Thus, the total amount of the color signal outputted from the photoelectric converter 25 is decreased, the circuit constitution is simplified and the processing speed is improved.
