The invention relates to a knee pad which comprises a shell made of rubber or the like, and an elastic cushioning which is arranged therein and is held on the inside of the shell by strip-like projections. In order to achieve reliable mounting of the cushioning and at the same time to rule out impediment to the user by the strip-like projections these projections are provided, according to the invention, only in the lateral corner region on the lower edge of the knee pad. If appropriate, the strip-like projection can be interrupted in the centre in the knee region opposite the upper edge of the kneecap.
