PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cleaning device configured to reduce toner consumption, to obtain sufficient cleaning effect.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus 1 includes: a toner image forming section 27 which supplies toner to a surface of a rotatable image carrier 18, to form a toner image; and a cleaning blade 23 which comes into contact with the image carrier 18 from a counter direction with respect to a rotation direction of the image carrier 18, to remove toner remaining on the image carrier 18. The toner image forming section 27 forms a non-transfer toner image, which is not transferred to a recording medium, on a surface of the image carrier 18, and removes the non-transfer toner image from the image carrier 18 by means of the cleaning blade 23, to perform cleaning of the cleaning blade 23. The toner image forming section 27 supplies a larger amount of toner, as compared with other areas 51b, to an area 51a where a large amount of paper dust is generated, in a width direction of a recording medium S, to form a non-transfer toner image.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2 |
