PURPOSE:To reduce generation of a reproducing error by providing a transversal filter to the pre-stage of a peak detection means of a reproducing demodulation circuit so as to narrow the waveform width thereby increasing the resolution capacity. CONSTITUTION:A vertical magnetic head 10, a read amplifier 20 amplifying an electric signal read through the head 10 as required, a transversal filter 30 applying waveform equalization with an operation characteristic forming a peak position of an isolated reproducing waveform of the signal RS in axis symmetry and narrowing the width, and a known demodulation circuit 40 detecting the peak of the read signal RS' subject to waveform equalization by the filter 30, forming a read data pulse, applying time analysis to the read data pulse in response to the modulation system of the said data and reproducing the data, are provided. Thus, the waveform of the reproducing signal is stabilized beforehand to prevent the reproducing error in advance in the data reproduction.
