PURPOSE:To perform welding of a pair of edge parts smoothly and to make the finished state excellent, by pressing a pair of the edge parts of a pair of facing plate parts, with holding tools, arranging the tools at parts inner than the edge parts, pressing the facing plate parts, and welding and connecting the edge parts. CONSTITUTION:A pair of holding tools 11 and 12 forms the parts of clamping arms 13 and 14. A pair of facing plate parts 31 and 32 is formed in a corrugated plate shape. Edge parts 33 and 34 of the plate parts 31 and 32 are arranged so that the holding tools 11 and 12 hold and press the edge parts 33 and 34. The positions of the edge parts 33 and 34 of the facing plate parts 31 and 32 are not changed. Therefore, the edge parts 33 and 34 are not held with the holding tools 11 and 12. Only parts 35 and 36, which are located at parts inner than the edge parts 33 and 34 by a specified distance, are held and pressed. Under this state, a straight-line automatic welding machine is operated. A welding torch moves on the edge parts 33 and 34, and welding connection is performed. Thus a gap between a pair of the edge parts becomes small, and the smooth welding is performed.
