PURPOSE:To heighten operability by making a magnetic disk and a semiconductor disk one and the same disk looking from the body of a computer, making data transfer between the semiconductor disk when data transfer with the semiconductor disk is allowed, and using the magnetic disk as a back-up means. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic disk 2 and a semiconductor disk 4 logically equivalent to a disk controller 5 are provided as an external storage device of the body of a computer 1, and handled as the same disk looked from the body of the computer 1. Thus, at the time of system rising, only the data requested by the body of the computer 1 are copied in real time in the semiconductor disk 4 instead of making file copy from the magnetic disk 2. When a user designates not to make write back to the magnetic disk 2, the high speed writing can be made only in the semiconductor disk 4 at the time of data writing.
