PURPOSE:To make it compact in size and light in weight by arranging respective hydraulic cylinders in such a way that piston action lines of respective hydraulic cylinders cross each other in the side of their piston rods when a rudder is in a neutral position. CONSTITUTION:Hydraulic cylinders 4A and 4B connected with a steering handle 3 are installed in such a way that, when a rudder is in a neutral position, piston action lines (a) and (b) of respective hydraulic cylinders cross each other in the side of piston rods 10A and 10B, and that respective piston rods do not comes in contact with each other while being not interferred with a steering shaft 1 even at a predetermined maximum steering angle. And while the steering handle 3 is being rotated, when either of the hydraulic cylinders comes to a dead point in action for rotating a steering shaft 1, the inlet and outlet ports of said hydraulic cylinders are reversed. Accordingly, the steering shaft can be rotated through the steering handle from 90 deg. at one board side to 90 deg. at the other board side or upto an angle larger than said angle without any trouble, and furthermore an angular moment can be obtained in favor of dynamics even at the predetermined maximum steering angle. As a result, a rated hydraulic pressure can be reduced.
