PURPOSE:To prevent want of care such as insufficient confirmation of the rcording state form being noticed by a caller by applying control that a telephone line is connected when it is judged that the number of calls reaches a predetermined number of times in the state of the end of recording area of a recording medium. CONSTITUTION:A call number of times (x) such as 20, to be recognized for the absence of a called party is stored in advance in a RAM 1c by a keybaord 3. When the magnetic tape is occupied at the absence of possessor and when a call comes form a caller, a microcomputer 1 detects whether or not the number of times of a call tone signal from a call tone detection circuit 4 reaches the call number (x) at first. Since the telephone line L is not connected until the prescribed call number (x) is reaches, the absence of the called party is recognized without informing the end of the recording tape due to want of care to the caller.
