PURPOSE:To make it possible to continuously carry out the supply of articles at a high speed, by holding the articles in a plurality of holding sections which are provided in the outer peripheral section of a separating rotary body at equal intervals and which are adapted to open and close, and then by separating the articles and supplying them toward an outlet chute in a transverse row. CONSTITUTION:Workpieces W coming successively from a conveyer path 11 in one longitudinal row are introduced onto the workpiece holding surfaces 18 of workpiece holding sections 17 in a direction turning and separating means 14 through an inlet chute 12, successively, abutting against the abutting parts 18a of the workpiece holding surfaces 18 for being positioned, and a gripper 20 is actuated in the closing direction thereof to hold each workpiece. The workpieces are raised in association with the rotation of a separating rotary body 16 so that the workpieces W are separated from each other. and the rotary body 16 successively holds the following workpieces which are introduced into the workpiece holding sections 17 through the inlet chute 12. Since each workpiece W is made to abut against a guide projection 13a which is engaged in part with the associated workpiece holding surface 18 projected toward the upper end of an outlet chute 13, the workpieces 13 successively enter into the outlet chute 13 in a transverse row.
