PURPOSE:To obtain a high resolution by forecasting the output of the next timing based on the time between timing signals previously outputted and outputting a specific number of timing signals in a constant interval untill the next timing signal is outputted. CONSTITUTION:A timing signal generation part 52 counts the time between two moving amount detection signals continuously outputted from an encoder 39, forecasts the output of the next moving amount detection signal and outputs a specific number of timing signals to a control part 51 in a constant interval until the next moving amount detection signal is outputted. And a timing signal generation part 52 generates a CCD exposure timing signal in a constant period by the command from the control part 51 and outputs each kind of timing signal synchronizing with the moving amount detection signal from the encoder 39. Thus a pulse signal which is n-fold of pulse signal by the encoder 39 is obtained and high resolution can be obtained even when a small-sized encoder which has a small number of pulses is used.
