Adjustable transformer for arc and plasma devices and comprising a magnetic core which comprises a main part 1 which consists of two yokes 2, 3 and legs 4, 5 in accordance with the number of phases, and an auxiliary part 6 which is placed beside the yoke 2 in the main part 1 of the magnetic core. The auxiliary part 6 of the magnetic core comprises a yoke 7 and legs 8, 9, which are equal in number to the number of legs 4, 5 where at least one leg is placed with a gap between itself and the yoke 2. The primary winding of each phase comprises two series- connected parts 12, 11 where the first part lies on the main part 1 of the magnetic core while the second part lies on the auxiliary part 6. A controlled electronic switch 14 which regulates the load current which passes through the secondary winding 13 in each phase and lies on the main part 1 of the magnetic core is connected in parallel with one of the parts 11 of the primary winding in each phase.
