PURPOSE:To attain a signal processing in matching with the excellent characteristic of a color filter by selecting properly picture element arrangement of each color, extracting green picture elements consecutively and extracting red and blue picture elements alternately at the interval of one picture element. CONSTITUTION:The image pickup element 20 consists of picture element array where picture elements having sensitivity to green and red colors are arranged alternately in a horizontal direction and of the picture element array where picture elements having sensitivity to blue and green colors are arranged alternately while the arrays are arranged alternately in a vertical direction. The output of the picture elements of an odd number column is extracted through a 1st signal bus 201 and the output of picture elements of an even order column is extracted through a 2nd signal bus 202. The outputs are processed by samplers 211-214, a mixer 251 and low pass filters 221-223, from which color signals G, R, B are led out and inputted to a process circuit 230.
