PURPOSE:To obtain the titled substance, by diazotizing o-fluoroaniline, reacting the diazotized compound with borofluoric acid, etc., to give o- fluorobenzeneborofluoric acid diazonium salt and thermally decomposing the o-fluorobenzeneborofluoric acid diazonium salt in an organic perfluoro compound having a specific boiling point. CONSTITUTION:o-Fluoroaniline is diazotized, reacted with borofluoric acid or an alkali metallic salt of borofluoric acid to give o-fluorobenzeneborofluoric acid diazonium salt, which is thermally decomposed in an organic perfluoro compound medium (e.g. perfluoro-alkane, perfluoro-cyclic alkyl-alkylamine or alkyl ether) having 150-180 deg.C boiling point to give the titled compound useful as an intermediate for producing drugs, etc. Since the organic perfluoro compound has a high coefficient of thermal conductivity, local rise in temperature caused by reaction heat during decomposition is rapidly diffused and uniform heating can be carried out. Overheating and side reactions are suppressed and the yield of the aimed substance can be raised to 85%.
