PURPOSE:To shorten the cause investigation time of a line fault by providing a parity checking function, a program checking function, etc., and functions which can be switched with a line changeover switch irrespective of to the male/female shape of an input/output connector for data in a monitor. CONSTITUTION:Data from the data line of a line 10 and a signal from the control line are processed by the parity checking function part 1, the program checking function part 2, a level checking function part 3, and an error counter 4, and the contents are stored in a memory part 5. When the processing result of a line monitor is viewed, an external operation part 7 is used and its contents are displayed on a display part 8. Further, the line monitor is provided with a grip so that it can be carried and used everywhere, and the monitor can be switched to either of male and female sides with the line changeover switch 9 irrespective of the male/female shape of the input/output connector for data.
