PURPOSE:To enable sure cell fusion in a miniature vessel of a cell fusion apparatus, by using a vessel having a specific structure as the miniature vessel for holding a pair of cells. CONSTITUTION:The cell fusion apparatus is furnished with a nozzle to transfer a cell, a miniature vessel to hold a pair of cells and a means for introducing a fusion agent or a means for electrical cell fusion. the miniature vessel used in the above apparatus has the structure of either (a) or (b). (a) A miniature vessel for cell fusion having a rectangular base satisfying the formula d<r1+r2 wherein r1 and r2 are diameters of a pair of cells 21 and 22, respectively, and d is a side length of the rectangular base. (b) A miniature vessel for cell fusion having rectangular base inclining toward the long side of the rectangular and satisfying the formula d<r1+r2 wherein r1 and r2 are diameters of a a pair of cells 31 and 32, respectively, and d is length of the short side of the rectangular base.
