The device comprises a pivotally mounted reciprocating plate (14) glidingly cooperating with the wall surfaces of a duct. The duct has a tapering space for the advance of the mass towards a discharge portion. The plate forms an angle with the coacting duct surfaces (5,6) such that it glides against the wall surfaces with friction but without binding. The plate is pivotally mounted at one edge to a fitting (12) such that during its linear displacement through the tapering space it forms an ever increasingly acute angle to the coacting wall surfaces. The fitting is pref. movable along a wall (8) of the duct by the piston rod (11) of a hydraulic cylinder (10), the opposite wall being angled to the direction of movement to form the tapering space. |
