Piperazines of formula (I) and (II) and pharmaceutically acceptable salts of (I) are new, where Ar is (hetero)aryl (pref. phenyl opt. substd. by one or two halogen, lower alkyl, lower alkoxy or trifluoromethyl groups); A is lower alkylene; Z is O or NR; R is H, lower alkyl, aryl, aralkyl, acyl, -B-NR1R2 or -CONHR3; R1 and R2 are H, lower alkyl or aralkyl or together complete a 5-7 membered ring; B is lower alkylene; R3 is H, lower alkyl, lower alkenyl or aryl; W is 0 or NOH. Specifically claimed is e.g. 5-(4-(4-(4-(3-trifluoromethylphenyl) -1-piperazinyl)butyl)phenyl) -2-pyrrolidinone.
