In a seat adjustment device for passenger cars which are provided with an electric drive for the longitudinal direction of a seat and/or the angle of inclination of the backrest, there is provision, with a view to adversely affecting to the smallest possible degree the all-round visibility from the driver's seat (12), for the drive (20) for longitudinal adjustment of the seat and/or adjustment of the angle of inclination of the backrest of the front seat passenger's seat (14) to be constructed in such a way that when the seat contact (22) of the front seat passenger's seat (14) is not activated the front seat passenger's seat (14) and/or the backrest of this front seat passenger's seat (14) can be moved into a predetermined front position as a function of a control signal triggered by the driver, in which position the headrest (18) of the front seat passenger's seat (14) coincides in terms of direction from the driver's seat (12) with the B pillar (16) on the front seat passenger's side of the passenger car (10). <IMAGE>
