<p>Solar energy collector has housing with side and end walls and a base. The walls have a slot along their length with lower and upper support surfaces. A sealing strip projects upwards from the upper surface. A cover or flashing strip is then fixed over the walls to seal in the transparent cover for the absorption element. The seal runs along the edges and without the flashing strip would have an opening. There is a groove projecting down from the seal. An angle strip acting as a bracket runs along the edge of the groove, one edge of which projects up into it. The other edge is used to bolt and mount the housing together. Used with solar energy collectors mounted on roofs.. The housing claimed is easily and rapidly assembled. The housing for individual collectors can be mounted in the desired location without further modification. It can be mounted on a building and sealed together with other units, to give a weather tight housing.</p> |
