PURPOSE: To uniformly and accurately carry out honing work in the inside surface of a workpiece by providing a means for carrying out relative axial movement between a cylindrical honing member and an expanding member (wedge assembly) during honing operation, so that the diameter of honing of a tool can be uniformly expanded or contracted. CONSTITUTION: Before a hub 40 is built up on the end part 46 of a cylindrical honing member 12, the hub 40 is positioned by an elastic member 52 extending through cutout parts 54. On the other hand, the members 52 are provided in respective grooves 48, and when assembled and fixed, they are formed between the cylindrical member 12 and the hub 40, so that spaces are produced in the inside of the hub 40 around the elastic member 52. These spaces are filled with elastomer 76. The elastomer 76 has relatively elasticity, and the diameter of the member 12 can be expanded or contracted inside the hub 40, and thereby some relative movement between the members 12 and 40 is allowed. By the arrangement of the members 52 in the grooves 48, when an expanding member (wedge assembly) 16 is axially moved in the inside of the member 12, the end part 46 of the member 12 is expanded or contracted together with the remainder thereof. |
