PURPOSE: To bring about a uniform and a prescribed mass flow rate to a burner of a gasifying device by regulating the suspension density of a mixture of solid particles and gas so that a preselected value be obtained substantially. CONSTITUTION: A mixture of solid particles and gas is sent under pressure by air from a vessel, e.g. a supply hopper 10, to a means for jetting it to a reactor 16, e.g. a burner 17, through a conduit 18. At least one radiation source 20, e.g. a gamma-ray source, is provided, being directed, and a radiation is transmitted through a sectional area of the mixture. At least one detector/ transmitter 22 is provided at a position opposed diametrically to the radiation source 20 substantially, and receives the radiation after it is transmitted through at least a part of the mixture. A processing and controlling device 25 compares a value obtained by the detector/transmitter 22 having a conversion means with a preselected value. Based on the result of comparison, the jetting velocity of the gas is increased or decreased by the operation of a flow control valve 27, thereby making the suspension density of the mixture a uniform and a prescribed mass flow rate.
