The present invention relates to a method for drying sludge of the like, in which material is fed in via closable registers 8 to a feed screw 7, and an arrangement for implementing the method. The method according to the invention is characterized in that the material is conducted to vertical spaces 3 or lagoons provided with distribution members 13 for the material, after which hot gas is introduced via an inlet member 5 into compartments 2 located between the spaces 3, and is removed via an outlet member 6, the hot gas passing through the compartments 2, preferably at about 1000C, being cooled by means of, for example, flanges as an aid for heat transmission through the plate of the compartments 2 to the material located in the spaces 3, in addition to which, in the event of material sticking to the plate, it is removed via scraping members 11 which are mounted on a scraping carriage 14 provided with distributors and bear against the plate, and in that coils 4 or the like are positioned in the bottom of the spaces 3 for advancing treated material which is fed out via closable registers 9 to coils 10, the steam produced being led off to a heat exchanger. <IMAGE> |
