PURPOSE:To enhance utilization efficiency of the respective upper and lower membrane modules by holding the pressure difference of the inside and the outside of the upper and lower membrane modules nearly constant without effect of the depth of water and uniforming the flow rate of filtrate. CONSTITUTION:A plurality of membrane modules 12 are vertically stacked to form a filter part 11. The filter membranes for filtering sewage are provided to the membrane modules 12 at a plurality of rows. A pump 5 is provided which gives the negative pressure for suction in order to filter sewage through the respective filter membranes. The ends of the membrane modules 12 are connected at every membrane module 12 and the other ends thereof are connected to the pump 5. The regulative pressure regulation valves 13-16 are provided so that the pressure difference of the inside and the outside of the respective filter membrane is held constant at every membrane module 12 without effecting the depth of water when the negative pressure for suction is given to the respective filter membranes by the pump 5. As a result, the utilization efficiency of the respective upper and lower membrane modules can be enhanced.
