PURPOSE:To provide the title composition giving high efficiency due to the synergistic effect of the components, comprising 4,5-dichloro-N-n- octylisothiazoline-3-one and an alpha-nitroalcohol derivative at a specified ratio. CONSTITUTION:The objective composition comprising (A) 4,5-dichloro-N-n- octylisothiazoline-3-one and (B) a compound of the formula (R<1> is H or methyl; R<2> and R<3> are each H, Br or hydroxyalkyl) (e.g. 2,2-dibromo-2-nitroethanol) at the weight ratio (95:5)-(5:95), pref. (85:15)-(15:85). The present composition gives such excellent efficiency as to be unexpectable from those for the case that the respective components are used singly, being effective as a remover for slime in papermaking, preservative for textile lubricants, preservative for machining lubricants, preservative for latex, coating color, lignin, starch slurry etc., preservative-antifungal agent for starch paste, coatings, tack agents, etc., and antifungal agent for pulp. |
