A method for oxidn-regenerating a copper waste fluid comprises heat-treating the fluid being prodnced in the etching treatment of a printed circuit board with a catalyst such as nitric acid, nitrous acid, nitrite, nitrate, its mixt. and air. The copper waste fluid is composed of CuCl, CuCl2, hydrochloric acid and H2O. The method gives the recovery of a high purity CuCl2, free of the prodn. of a posionous gas.
