PURPOSE:To improve adhesivity of the subject material by compounding a binder and a boron oxide or phosphorus oxide to refractory aggregate and kneading the mixture. CONSTITUTION:The objective packing material for refractory can be obtained by kneading a mixture produced by compounding (A) a refractory aggregate composed of one or more components selected from metal oxide such as sintered alumina or clay, metal carbide, metal nitride, etc., with (B) 3-50wt.% of an organic binder (e.g. phenolic resin) or an inorganic binder, (C) 0.5-20wt.% of a boron oxide such as boric anhydride or a phosphorus oxide such as metaphosphoric acid and, as necessary, (D) 3-10wt.% of an inorganic, organic or metallic fiber such as ceramic fiber, 0.5-20wt.% of a low melting metal such as Al and 0.01-5wt.% of a heat-expansion material such as vermiculite. |
