OPTICAL FIBER UNIT MANUFACTURING METHOD AND MANUFACTURING DEVICE

[Problem] To achieve a joint at a reversal point in the winding direction of a bundling cord even with an increased linear velocity. [Solution] The present invention provides a method for manufacturing an optical fiber unit by winding the outer periphery of an optical fiber bundle into which a plurality of optical fibers is bundled with at least two bundling cords. The method comprises: feeding the optical fiber bundle in a feeding direction from a fiber passing part; feeding at least one of the bundling cords from a bundling cord passing part of a rotating member arranged on the outer periphery of the fiber passing part, while causing the rotating member to turn with the feeding direction as a pivot in order to form an intersection between the two bundling cords at the outer periphery of the optical fiber bundle while feeding the bundling cord; and forming the optical fiber unit in which the winding direction of the bundling cords around the optical fiber bundle is reversed at a fused point of at least one of the bundling cords by feeding the optical fiber bundle and the bundling cords through a heating part disposed further downstream than the fiber passing part and the rotating member in the feeding direction and fusing the bundling cords to each other at the intersections.
