A console for supporting brickwork comprises an obliquely mounted, tensile-load-carrying device and a horizontal compressive-load-carrying device extending inwards towards an abutment 1. The tension device comprises two elements 8, 8' which extend between a fixed plate 7 and the outer end of the compression device 10. The two tension elements 8, 8' are welded onto a support plate 9. The compression device has the form of a U-section whose ribs form an extension of the support plate. Both the fixed plate 7 and the support plate 9 are prefabricated in a standard design of acid-resistant steel, which is common to consoles of varying dimensions and wherein only the lengths of the tension device 8, 8' and the U-section 10 serving as a compression device are variable, whereby the said tension element and the said U-section are also prefabricated of acid-resistant steel. <IMAGE> |
