<p>PURPOSE:To predict a motion vector with high accuracy by obtaining two one-dimensional vectors orthogonal to each other based on an accumulation table corresponding to a picture element at a point giving an offset of a predicted horizontal motion vector in the vertical direction and on an accumulation table corresponding to a relevant picture element in the horizontal direction. CONSTITUTION:An input video signal 2 is A/D-converted by an A/D converter 1 and written in a representing point memory 3. The stored data is read with a delay of one frame and fed to vertical and horizontal absolute circuits 9, 10 via a latch circuit 4. The video digital signal is fed to the vertical absolute value circuit 9 via a circuit 6 latched in the timing offset by (m) in the horizontal direction with respect to the timing of the picture element of the representative point in the vertical direction and fed to the horizontal absolute value circuit 10 via the circuit 8 latched in the timing offset by (n) in the vertical direction similarly. A difference between the signal of one preceding frame outputted from the circuit 4 and a signal from the circuit 6 is calculated by the circuit 9 and a motion vector is obtained from an output of the circuit 10 calculated similarly.</p> |
