The mobile road machine has a side-mounted tool for working on the verges. It is particularly for trimming and compacting asphalt road edges, having a crankshaft-driven toolholder. A disc with a wedge-section edge forming an impact tool (15) rotates and moves in the radial direction on the holder (9), the clear width of its central opening (17) being essentially greater than the dia. of the pin on the holder supporting it. The holder can have two arms 180 deg. apart, and on whose ends are pins (13,14), each supporting an impact disc (15,16).
